On July 9, 1999, Tim was working at a summer job, erecting an extremely large party tent. His crew had been working for over twelve hours. It was after dark and there were no lights. As Tim and another worker, maneuvered the last metal pole into place, it came into contact with a hydro line. Tim was electrocuted. The other worker was badly burned. “Timothy Hamilton did not want to die. He was at work because he had plans. Plans for the week-end, plans for college, plans for his life. What an exceptional adult he was becoming. All the bits and pieces were there within him. What a contribution he would have made.”

In Canada, workplace fatalities claim roughly 1,000 lives every year. Thousands more suffer from serious injuries and illnesses. And every one of those deaths, injuries and illnesses has a devastating effect on family members, friends and co-workers. Through the LifeQuilt, families honoured 100 young workers killed in Canadian workplaces, as well as injured workers, by telling their stories.
