Steve died on the job at an ink pigment factory. He was operating a large floor mixer for mixing ink products at the time. Steve had worked at this job for less than a year. Steve was 6’3” tall and was known as the “Gentle Giant.” He was kind-hearted and friendly. He was also a well-known local hockey player. Steve and his fiance had plans to announce their upcoming wedding.

In Canada, workplace fatalities claim roughly 1,000 lives every year. Thousands more suffer from serious injuries and illnesses. And every one of those deaths, injuries and illnesses has a devastating effect on family members, friends and co-workers. Through the LifeQuilt, families honoured 100 young workers killed in Canadian workplaces, as well as injured workers, by telling their stories.
